#Coffee Bay The small town of Coffee Bay is situated on the Wild Coast in the Transkei, South Africa. It is deep rural and traditional Xhosa country. Coffee Bay was named after a ship that had lost its cargo of coffee beans when it was shipwrecked on the coast nearby. The story goes that these beans that washed up on the shore, germinated and grew. The coffee plants are no longer there, but the name remained!

The beach at Coffee Bay offers a kilometre stretch ideal for swimming with good surfing waves. Beautiful cowries are frequently found washed up on the beach.

The main attraction at Coffee Bay is Hole-in-the-Wall, about 8 km from there. The “wall” is an offshore stack of rock through which the elements eroded a hole. The hole is directly opposite the Mpako River which probably contributed to the erosion of the hole.
