Overview
#Klipdrift Brandy Distillery Nearly a hundred years ago, Mr JP (Kosie) Marais decided to produce brandy in this mainly wine producing region. He knew that Chenin Blanc and Columbar (grape varieties), that were successfully grown in the Robertson district, was most suited for brandy making. Marais began his distillery in his backyard and developed Klipdrift, the unique South African brandy that has become an icon in South Africa. Today, his award winning formula for brandy, is still adhered to.
From the original Klipdrift Export, three variations have been developed, Klipdrift and Cola, Klipdrift Premium and Klipdrift Gold, all three have won awards at brandy shows.
The Klipdrift distillery is open for visitors. They offer distillery tours that include brandy tasting and food pairing with each of their brandies. Brandy tasting without the distillery tour is also possible. They also have a local restaurant, the “Brandewyntuin” (translated Brandy Garden).
The distillery is open seven days a week, including public holidays with the exception of Christmas, Good Friday and New Years Day.
