#KwaZulu-Natal South Coast The KwaZulu-Natal South Coast in South Africa is a popular holiday destination for South African and international visitors. This stretch of coast offers a multitude of excellent swimming beaches that can be used all year round and also the regular viewing of dolphins and whales.
The towns along the South Coast are especially geared for holiday makers. Accommodation facilities range from upmarket hotels and lodges to camping with everything in between. A large variety of restaurants to suit every taste are available.
For the golfer, the South Coast is close to a golfing paradise. Named by many 'The Golf Coast', there are nine excellent 18- hole golf courses, two of which are rated among the top 12 in the country.
For the nature lover there is the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve, which conserves plants found nowhere else in the world. It also offers excellent birding opportunities - 400 bird species have been counted along this coastline. The scenic Oribi Gorge is also worth a visit.
Every winter, there is the phenomenon of the sardine run - millions of sardines migrate up the coast, accompanied by dolphins and other large fish and thousands of sea birds which feed on them. People come from far and wide to scoop up buckets of this natural harvest.
