Overview

Durban, with its sub tropical climate, is known as the holiday capital of South Africa. On this tour you drive along the Golden Mile, the mile long promenade that runs along the many popular beaches of Durban. From the Golden Mile, you head for the imposing domed, Durban City Hall, completed in 1910. This impressive building houses an art gallery, the municipal chambers an auditorium and the Natural Sciences Museum. You now head for the KwaMuhle Museum. This elegant building once housed the infamous Native Administration Department. It is now a museum depicting the harsh conditions during the Apartheid era. Depart to the Durban Botanical Gardens, it is Africa's oldest surviving botanical garden. Enjoy the gardens with its extensive collection of plants, notably the large collection of cycads. You will be treated to a "Bunny chow" tasting: a South African dish consisting of a quarter hollowed out bread usually filled with mutton curry or vegetarian curry. Beware, the Indian curries are potent! End your tour with a visit to the very impressive Moses Mabhida Stadium that was built in preparation for the 2010 soccer world cup that was held in South Africa. The cable car ticket at the Stadium is for own account.
