Mandela Bay Cultural Evening Tour
Overview
During the era of apartheid in South Africa, the government separated living areas according to race. Black, coloured and Indian people were placed in township areas outside cities and white areas. Today, in post-Apartheid South Africa, this forced separation is no more and all citizens are allowed to obtain property wherever they like and can afford to. In practical terms the more affluent people of colour can afford to live in areas of choice whilst poor people are still restricted to the townships and informal settlement areas.
In the so-called black township areas you have a vibrant African culture that is very exciting to experience. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit a typical township shebeen (pub/restaurant) to mingle with the locals and experience the hospitality and friendliness of township people. Enjoy a buffet style dinner of local cuisine.
The tour lasts for approximately four hours. You should be back at your hotel by 20:00.
