Cape Winelands Afternoon Tour
Overview
You will be collected at your hotel to depart inland for the Cape Winelands, situated in valleys among majestic mountains. You will visit Paarl (Dutch for “pearl”). The name of the town derives from the Paarl Mountain. On top of the mountain are huge granite boulders that shimmer like pearls in the sun after rain. The town boasts the fact that a group of its residents played a key role in getting recognition for Afrikaans as one of the country's official languages. Included will also be Franschhoek (“French corner”) named after the French Huguenots who settled in this valley in 1688. They brought the French viniculture to South Africa. This quaint little town with many highly acclaimed restaurants, is very popular with visitors. You will also visit the historic town of Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa. Stellenbosch is known for its oak lined streets with numerous examples of the original Cape Dutch architecture. It is also the centre of the wine industry and home to one of the country's best known universities.
A visit to one wine estate with wine tasting is included, lunch will be for own account.
