Overview
#The Bongani Mountain Lodge The Bongani Mountain Lodge is situated in the Mthethomusha Private Game Reserve that borders The Kruger National Park in the south. The reserve consists of three different ecosystems, which add to the large diversity of animals and birds found in the park. The 8000 ha of the Mthethomusha Game Reserve is home to a large variety of wild animals and includes the ‘big five’ (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino).
The backdrop for the lodge and game reserve is the Malelane mountains, adding to the special nature of the bush experience.
The lodge offers early morning and late afternoon game drives as well as bush walks with well qualified game rangers. Game drives within the Kruger National Park can be arranged.
The game reserve also contains about 200 rock paintings by the ancient Bushmen (San) people who were the original inhabitants of South Africa. The lodge offers rock art tours where some of these examples of rock art can be viewed.
The rural community adjacent to the Game Reserve is Swazi speaking. To a large extent this community still maintains it's traditional way of life and culture. For those who are interested, visits to some of the surrounding villages can be arranged.
